With decades of experience in watershed development, health, sanitation, education, and livelihood promotion, we work closely with government departments to translate policy into action on the ground. Water Resources Department – Environmental Cell Division

COODU has partnered with the Water Resources Department (WRD), Environmental Cell Division, to implement impactful initiatives focused on environmental conservation, capacity building, and sustainable water management. Through this collaboration, COODU has been actively engaged in promoting Participatory Irrigation Management (PIM), environmental stewardship, and awareness creation among communities and institutions. COODU is an empanelled NGO by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of Tamil Nadu, and has been actively engaged in implementing CCDU (Communication and Capacity Development Unit) and Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) activities across 8 districts of Tamil Nadu. Through its partnership with the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board, COODU has been instrumental in promoting safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene practices, while building the capacities of local institutions to ensure sustainable water resource management. TANSACS Partnership

COODU has been a trusted implementing partner of the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS), spearheading community-based HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and support initiatives in Coimbatore district. Our partnership is focused on addressing the needs of high-risk and vulnerable populations while strengthening community resilience against the epidemic. Targeted Interventions (TI) for HIV/AIDS Prevention in Krishnagiri and Coimbatore Districts

Project Overview: COODU worked on targeted interventions in Krishnagiri and Coimbatore Districts to prevent HIV/AIDS among high-risk groups, including female sex workers, MSM, transgender individuals, and migrants. Key Achievements: Covered 112 hotspots in six blocks, conducting awareness and testing programs.Engaged 1,201 female sex workers, 28 MSM, and 43 transgender individuals.Conducted STI and HIV testing for 3,893 individuals.Distributed over 300,000 condoms through free and social marketing initiatives.Organized 6900+ community engagement events, legal awareness programs, and health camps. The Community Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) project with the TWAD (Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage) Board was aimed at enhancing community participation in water management. TANSACS - Link Workers Scheme (LWS) for HIV/AIDS Prevention (Ongoing)

Project Overview: COODU, in partnership with Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS), implemented the Link Workers Scheme (LWS) in Dharmapuri District to prevent and manage HIV/AIDS among high-risk populations. Key Achievements: Conducted awareness programs for 10,000+ individuals, including female sex workers, MSM, transgender individuals, and migrants.Organized 100+ village-level meetings and advocacy sessions to reduce stigma.Conducted 9,880 new HIV/AIDS registrations and provided testing services for 5,574 individuals.Distributed 28,795 free condoms and 1,770 social marketing condoms to promote safe practices.Organized medical camps for sexually transmitted infection (STI) screenings and treatment. Flora & Fauna Study for Noyyal and Raja Vaikkal River Basin Conservation

Project Overview: COODU collaborated with the Water Resources Department to conduct an ecological study on the Noyyal and Raja Vaikkal irrigation systems within the Cauvery Basin. Key Findings: Identified critical biodiversity hotspots requiring conservation efforts. Recommended sustainable land and water management practices. Suggested community participation models for long-term conservation.
