Verification Agency for the Nirmal Gram Puraskar (NGP) Awards
, recognizing villages that achieved total sanitation. The organization conducted extensive
field verification, data validation, and community assessments

Under the
Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Programme (DVRP)
, COODU worked in
54 wards of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC)
to strengthen urban disaster preparedness. Key activities included:

and identification of critical emergency routes

COODU has been entrusted with the operation and maintenance of 84 public toilets across three zones of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation. 4. Swachh Bharat Mission goals
Under the Trade Related Entrepreneurship Assistance and Development (TREAD) Scheme supported
by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, COODU has
implemented capacity-building and entrepreneurship training programs for women in Coimbatore
district. The initiative focused on:

COODU is among the
pioneering organizations in Tamil Nadu
to implement large-scale watershed and drought mitigation projects under:
• DPAP (Drought Prone Area Programme)
• IWDP (Integrated Wasteland Development Programme)
• Western Ghats Development Programme
• IWMP (Integrated Watershed Management Programme)
These programs have been executed across
Coimbatore, Ramanathapuram, Namakkal, Karur, Krishnagiri, and Dindigul districts

soil and water conservation, afforestation, and livelihood enhancement
for drought-prone and marginal communities.
COODU has partnered with NABARD to implement both the Watershed Development Fund (WDF) and Water & Climate Campaigns in Tamil Nadu. These interventions strengthened climate resilience, community water resource management, and sustainable agriculture practices , particularly benefiting small and marginal farmers.
7. Yoga and Naturopathy Training – AYUSH, GoIWith the support of the Department of AYUSH, Government of India , COODU organized Yoga and Naturopathy training programs in Coimbatore district. These sessions promoted holistic health, preventive care, and natural living , reaching hundreds of participants including women, youth, and elderly citizens.
8. Ooty Lake Conservation Awareness Programme
Under the guidance of the
Ooty Municipal Corporation and Ooty Lake Society
Funds, COODU implemented a comprehensive
Lake Conservation and Environmental Awareness Programme
. Key components included:
• Workshops and training sessions
on lake protection and pollution control
• Manual cleaning of Kodapmund Channel
• Street plays and awareness campaigns
for local communities
• Display boards and IEC materials
highlighting ecological preservation
This initiative played a crucial role in improving the environmental health of Ooty Lake and
sensitizing citizens to protect natural water bodies.
COODU has partnered with public health departments and hospitals to organize medical, health, and eye camps across rural and tribal regions. These camps provided preventive healthcare, eye screening, and cataract surgeries , making essential health services accessible to the underserved.
10. CAPART – Gramin Vikas AndholanAs part of the Council for Advancement of People’s Action and Rural Technology (CAPART) initiative, COODU implemented the Gramin Vikas Andholan program , emphasizing community participation, livelihood promotion , and local self-reliance in rural areas.
