Our ongoing collaboration with the Environmental Cell Division of the Water Resources Department (ECD-WRD) focuses on promoting sustainable water management practices and environmental conservation. Leveraging our expertise in climate-smart agriculture and demand management, we work together to implement initiatives that protect our precious water resources and enhance the resilience of local communities.Focus Areas & Activities: Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR): Implementing MAR techniques, including the construction of well recharge structures and bore chargers, to replenish groundwater resources and combat water scarcity. Example: Construction of 250 well recharge structures in areas with high water demand. BoreCharger Technology: Implementing bore chargers to recharge borewells

TANSACS - Link Workers Scheme (LWS) for HIV/AIDS Prevention (Ongoing)

Project Overview: COODU, in partnership with Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS), implemented the Link Workers Scheme (LWS) in Dharmapuri District to prevent and manage HIV/AIDS among high-risk populations.Key Achievements: Conducted awareness programs for 10,000+ individuals, including female sex workers, MSM, transgender individuals, and migrants. Organized 100+ village-level meetings and advocacy sessions to reduce stigma. Conducted 9,880 new HIV/AIDS registrations and provided testing services for 5,574 individuals. Distributed 28,795 free condoms and 1,770 social marketing condoms to promote safe practices. Organized medical camps for sexually transmitted infection (STI) screenings and treatment. Impact: Increased HIV awareness and testing rates.

HIV/ AIDS PREVENTION, CONTROL, CARE AND SUPPORTHIV/ AIDS activities form an important component of development within COODU’s development framework. COODU has offered a wide range of services on the HIV/ AIDS continuum beginning with prevention efforts, moving over to referrals for treatment and diagnosis, and currently provides care and support services through the TANSACS-supported COODU Community Care Centre for You (C4U). In Coimbatore district alone, COODU has undertaken a wide range of intervention efforts among different target groups that include students, teachers, government departments, and the general public.
