
Engineering College and Research Institute, (AEC&RI) TNAU, Coimbatore hosted Mega Seed Ball Preparation Event on 28.09.2024 (Saturday). Around 1000 students and faculty of TNAU participated in this mega event and prepared around 15000 plus seed balls as a part of two crore Seed Ball Programme under the abled leadership of Prof. V. geetha lakshmi, Vice-chancellor TNAU.
In continuation to this event, on 07.10.2024 (Monday) around 200 students of TNAU visited Karamadai Forest Range and threw the 15000 plus seed balls in the identified locations along with the guidance and support of Tamil Nadu Forest Department, ITC-Limited and COODU NGO, Karamadai.
Prof. V. geetha lakshmi, Vice-chancellor TNAU, Coimbatore flagged off the massive plantation drive of students towards Karamadai Forest. Mr. Ranjith Forest Range Officer guided the students in throwing the seed balls and Seeds like kassod tree, custard apple, silk cotton, indian siris, Neem and Pacific rosewood were thrown in Karamadai Forest. In future, this will improve the forest cover, enhance the hydrological behaviour of the forest watersheds and shelters the wildlife.
