Starting from conduct of Health and Medical camps in the year 1995, COODU
has been carrying out numerous campaigns among people on health and medical
issues and has managed a care home for People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs), in
association with TANSACS for three years in Coimbatore city.
COODU has focussed
on weaker sections of the society and the disadvantaged for which it has associated
with private organisations such as YRG care, Aravind Eye Hospital, Sankara
Nethralaya, HIV/ AIDS Network of south India and Govt. Organisations like National
Council on AIDS, Tamil Nadu State AIDS control society (TANSACS), International
Organisation like the UNDP and, implemented programmes such as National AIDS
control programme, Targeted Intervention programme for Tribes in the Nilgris and
Coimbatore districts.
COODU has reached out to adolescent girls and women to sensitise them on
trafficking and HIV/AIDS under UNDP TAHA.
COODU has conducted medical camp focussing on tribal women, adolescent
girls and girl children in Karamadai block as part of water stewardship programme
being implemented in partnership with ITC Ltd.
