World Environment Day 2025: Sustaining Green Efforts in Kalapatti..!
On June 7th, 2025, the Corporation Reserved Site (Aerocity) in Kalapatti became a hub of environmental action as volunteers gathered to mark World Environment Day. The event focused on the ongoing “Maintenance of Plantation Sites at Corporation Reserved Site (Aerocity) & Government Boys Hostel Campus in Kalapatti,” a programme that began in January 2022 under the banner “Afforestation Drive to Mitigate Climate Change in Kalapatti.”
This ambitious initiative, launched in partnership with Bosch Global Software Technologies Private Limited, Coimbatore, and implemented by COODU Organisation, has already made a significant impact. Over the past three years, 4,900 saplings have been planted across the Corporation Reserved Site (Aerocity) and the Government Boys Hostel campus in Kalapatti. Thanks to regular maintenance activities, including weeding and cleaning, the sites now boast an impressive 95% survival rate for the saplings.
On World Environment Day, 80 dedicated volunteers participated in the upkeep of the plantation site, ensuring that the young trees continue to thrive. Their efforts not only contribute to a greener Kalapatti but also support the broader goal of mitigating climate change through sustained afforestation.
This event highlights the importance of community involvement and corporate support in environmental conservation. The ongoing maintenance of these plantation sites stands as a testament to the collective commitment to a healthier, greener future for Kalapatti and beyond.
