Strengthening Water Bodies & Promoting Biodiversity 

On 30th August 2025, L&T PES, Coimbatore, in collaboration with COODU Organisation, successfully conducted a large-scale Afforestation Drive at along the renovated waterbodies and banks of Arisipalayam Main Stream, Arisipalayam Village Panchayat.

 What we achieved together:

 Plantation of 3,000 palm seeds along the renovated waterbody banks – a natural shield against soil erosion.
 Plantation of 50 native saplings – boosting biodiversity and creating long-term ecological balance.

 Who made it possible:

The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Sreedhar Vasudeven, Sr. DGM, L&T PES, Coimbatore, with guidance from Mr. M. Vishnukumar & Mr. Sugaraja (L&T CSR) alongside the COODU team.
40 L&T employee volunteers ("L&Teers")
15 COODU team members led by Dr. S. Kathiresan (Secretary) & Mrs. M.A. Saitha Begam (Joint Secretary)
30 local community members, including farmers & Residents Welfare Association members

 Total Participants: 85

 Why it matters:

This drive is a step towards soil conservation, groundwater recharge, biodiversity promotion, and stronger community ownership of natural resources.
